However, due to lack of production in the first quarter, many companies sold phones from outside so that the demand remains there. Many Chinese companies are also involved in this. Canalys expert Madhumita Chaudhary said that there is still a stony path for recovery in the Indian smartphone market. The shortage of employees in companies affected production and at the same time sales could not catch much momentum.

Canalys stated that Apple was the least affected among the 10 top sellers as shipments in the second quarter of 2020 dropped by 20% year-over-year to over 250,000. The seller has recently announced their plans to diversify their supply chain. In order to increase its investment in India, it is advancing its major partners Foxconn and Wistron.

“Sellers are conveying the message‘ Made in India ’to consumers and are eager to present their brand as‘ Bharat-Pratham ’. Samsung, Nokia, or even Apple are hardly price-competitive, ”said Canalys Research Analyst Advait Mardikar.
