Emirates Cricket Board secretary Mubashshir Usmani said that if the government approves then they would like to fill the stadiums in the Indian Premier League (UAE) with an audience of 30 to 50 per cent. Announcing the dates of the Indian Premier League (IPL), its chairman Brajesh Patel told PTI that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) decided to allow spectators to take the field during the T20 tournament to be held from 19 September to 8 November.
Despite announcing the dates, the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) is also waiting for the approval of the Government of India for the IPL in the UAE. Ummani said over the phone, ‘Once we get the confirmation from the BCCI (about the approval of the Government of India), we will go to our government with the complete proposal and standard operating procedure (SOP) prepared by us and the BCCI.’
Ummani said, “We would definitely like to make our people experience this prestigious tournament but it will be entirely the decision of the government.” In most tournaments here, the number of spectators varies from 30 to 50 per cent, we are expecting this number. We are expecting our government’s approval on this. ‘There are more than 6000 active cases of corona virus in the UAE and the epidemic there. But the situation is almost controlled.
However, the 2020 Dubai Rugby Sevens tournament to be held in November has been canceled for the first time since 1970 due to the threat of corona virus. He said about the concerns about IPL security, “the UAE government has been very effective in reducing the number of infected.” We are leading a normal life by following certain rules and protocols and while there is still some time in the IPL, we will definitely be in a better position. ”The IPL Governing Council will meet on Sunday to decide on logistics and SOP.
