An Air India Express aircraft coming from Dubai crashed into the ditch after slipping on the runway during a landing in Kozhikode amid heavy rain. After the fall, the aircraft broke into two parts and 19 people on board have died. The rescue operation started soon after the accident and the dead and injured were evacuated. According to the latest reports, test reports of 2 in the dead have come positive. Local Bodies Minister of Kerala A. C. Moideen has confirmed this. In such a situation, all the people involved in the rescue operation will have to be tested.
According to information provided by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, flight number IX 1344 operated from Dubai by B737 slipped on the runway at Kozhikode at 7.41 pm on Friday. The aircraft had 184 passengers, 10 pilots and 4 crew members, including 10 newborns. It was a flight under the Vande Bharat Mission to bring Indians back home. Rias, a rescued passenger, said the plane circled the airport twice in the air before landing. Let us know that the condition of more than 15 passengers injured in the accident is very critical.
Let us know that among the 19 people killed in the accident, the plane’s main pilot Captain Deepak Sathe and his co-pilot Akhilesh Kumar are also included. Sathe was the first wing commander in the Indian Air Force. Air India Express said in a statement released at midnight, “Unfortunately the pilots have died and in this hour of grief we are in touch with their families.” According to reports, all have been evacuated from the aircraft and rescue operations have now been completed. The injured are being treated in various hospitals.
