Driving License Category A2
The category A2 driving license allows you to drive motorcycles without a sidecar, with a a maximum engine power of 35 kW. The power/weight ratio of the motorcycle cannot exceed 0.2kW/kg.
This driving license was created to let you get your motorcycle driving licence early, and then move on to the A2 licence with more engine power.
Motorcycles and scooters
The second stage of motorcycle license is the driving licence category A2. This permits you to operate mopeds and small bikes up to 50cc. The class is intended to allow you to gradually climb the ladder of power and to savor the possibility of a larger one. The test is a little more difficult than the first category, and you'll need to attend more theory lessons to prepare.
The category A2 driver's licence is valid up to the age of 24. It can be used in conjunction with a car driving license category A1 or as a part of a provisional category B driver's license. Once you are over the age of 16 you must pass the A2 category motorbike test. You must pass the test before you turn 18. After two years, you are able to move to category A.
After passing the test in category A2, you will be permitted to ride a motorcycle, with or without sidecar, and vehicles with up to 35 kW of power. These vehicles must have a weight/power of not more than 0.02 kW/kg. They cannot be derived directly from a vehicle that has twice the power.
If you have completed a two-part moped test or lower category motorcycle test as of the 1st July 1996 then you can skip the theory test and take the practical test. The AM licence is only valid if you have taken your theory test and attended nine hours of training divided into practical and theory lessons at a driving school.
Motor vehicles with 4 wheels
This category covers all motor vehicles with four wheels that are not buses or passenger cars. Also, it includes utility vehicles such as pickups, panels and vans. Included are motor homes, campers and lorries. This category can also include vehicles such as hearses, ambulances and carryalls that are designed to transport more than eight persons or have a maximum authorized mass of more than 500 kg. A1 drivers are able to drive such vehicles with a trailer weighing up to 750kg.
You must have passed the theory test to be able to drive a car in this category. To pass you must attend a total of 12 lessons for 90 minutes of the base content and four additional lessons lasting 90 minutes for the additive (category A2). The test for the theory requires an 80% minimum score percent.
After passing the theory exam, you will be required to take a practical driving exam on both private and public roads. Once you have passed both tests, you will be issued the request for a driver's license. You must present this request to the local authority within three years after passing your practical test.
After passing your driving test, it is possible to start driving vehicles that fall in the category of A2. In certain countries, if you hold an A1 license for two years, there's no requirement to pass a separate test to obtain a category A2 driving licence that permits you to operate motorcycles up 35 kW. Motor vehicles with 5 or more wheels
This category includes vehicles with motors that are designed to be used on the roads for transport of passengers or goods. They must include at least 2 or 3 wheels in contact with ground as well as a driver's chair or saddle, and a motor that is able to be able to travel at speeds of 20 miles an hour or more. These vehicles come with brakes as well as a steering wheel. They are also able to be controlled in a normal direction, and can travel in reverse. Motor vehicles with trailers
Category A2 comprises motor vehicles that have trailers. These are not driven by drivers, but are towed by larger vehicles like cars. You must have a driving license in category B for at minimum two years, and pass both a theory and practical test. You must also have attended an exclusive course and received additional training in order to be qualified for this. This course is referred to as a driver's education course.
