Some people can’t sleep in silence. They need someone moving around in bed and making the sounds that indicate there is another body in the room, they need the ambient sounds of the outdoors, or they need to be lulled to sleep by someone or something else noisewise. If you have trouble sleeping on your mattress in a box, then you might need to do a massive overhaul of your environment and take stock of what you are listening too before bedtime.
There are plenty of listening options that will lull you into slumber without being too much of a distraction, so here are some of the things you need to be listening to before bed.
Soft Music
Of course you don’t want to be listening to rock music or loud vocal lyrics while you are trying to get some sleep, but you can often get away with listening to softer music. Music like the piano and the flute are designed to put people to sleep when they play soft melodies, and you can find countless hours of music on Youtube and other places that will play these tunes at the perfect volume.
If you can, try to find some of these tunes on a loop, or make a loop yourself. If your brain can follow the loop and allow it to fade into the background, and not get distracted by new songs that you haven’t heard before, then you can more easily fall asleep.
Podcasts Or Videos Made For Bedtime
Whether you are listening to adult bedtime stories, some of your favorite children’s classics, or some other video, simply hearing someone speak about certain things can be very helpful when it comes to going to sleep. Just make sure that the media you are consuming in question is something you are listening too, and that it is designed to help you fall asleep. Watching your favorite TV show before bed isn’t going to wind your brain down any!
You can find all sorts of sleep podcasts, ranging from people with nice voices telling stories or getting you into a meditative state, to people simply reading the phone book or reading shipping manifests with lots of numbers and letters. If it puts you to sleep, it works!
Positive Motivational Tapes
Finally, if you want to get a good night of sleep and a good morning, you can listen to all sorts of motivational tapes. These tapes are often designed to fill your brain with various affirmations that you can then remember unconsciously in the morning. So if you need a little boost of confidence, these can work!
