Indian Embassy in America said that F1 visa holders new guidelines regarding visa for some foreign students (Student Visa) can be uncertain and difficult. According to this guidelines, foreign students will have to take at least one course in which they can personally attend the class otherwise they will face the risk of being deported.
A spokesperson for the Indian embassy said that at a time when American universities and colleges have not announced their plans for the new academic year, these new guidelines have caused uncertainty for some Indian students wishing to continue their studies in the US Situations can occur and difficulties may arise.
In response to the questions, the spokesperson said that the Government of India has taken up this matter with the concerned officials of the US. On July 7, at the India-US Foreign Office Symposium, Foreign Secretary Harshvardhan Shringla raised India’s concerns with David Hale, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs.
According to a recent report, 1,94,556 Indian students got registered in various academic institutions in the US in January this year. Of these, 1,26,132 are male and 68,405 are female. The spokesperson hoped that US officials would show sufficient softness in their visa rules for Indian students, keeping in mind the extraordinary circumstances created by the Covid-19 global epidemic.
