Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the cabinet has approved the proposal to extend the existing scheme till August, under which the government will contribute the employees and employers’ contribution to the provident fund. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana, the government is contributing a total of 24 per cent, including 12-12 per cent of the employer and employees in the Provident Fund.The government has extended the scheme for payment of the Provident Fund to the employer and part of the employee for another 3 months. On the one hand, due to this decision of the government, more salaries will come in the account of employees for three months and on the other hand, employers will get big financial benefit.
This scheme is for those units where the number of employees is up to 100 and 90 percent of them have monthly salary less than Rs 15,000. Earlier this scheme was for March, April and May, which has now been extended to June, July and August.
